Dillett Day at New Berlin West Middle/high School

Feb. 1, 2010 | 0 comments

Thank you to the New Berlin NOW for sharing the story of the passing of a beloved coach and community member, Mike Dillett. We would like you to know of the latest in what the community of New Berlin has done for the family. A fundraising tshirt drive was held at New Berlin West Middle/High School, selling over 400 tshirts to staff, students, families, former-soccer players, alumni and even community members who had never even met Mike. The shirts were ordered from the southeaster Wisconsin area, all the way to the East coast. As news spread of the loss of Mike Dillett, we were flooded with orders! All together the tshirt drive resulted in over $2300 being donated to the Dillett family.

On Wednesday, February 3rd at 12:45 p.m. in our middle school gym (18695 W. Cleveland Ave) we will be presenting the family with a check and with their family tshirts. The presentation will take place during the middle of our school day to allow all those students, staff, and community members who purchased shirts and supported the cause to join us for the presentation. Our hope is to fill the gym with an overwhelming amount of people dressed in the Dillett tshirts to show the family the support that the community has for them.

The fundraising drive was made possible through the efforts of two soccer players, senior Nicole Morici, and sophomore, Cayla Holtz. They worked with Ideal Logos and Awards, owner Mary Kroeninger, to design the shirts. Mary and Ideal Logos donated most of the shirt cost to the cause, allowing our donation to the family to be as large as possible.

We would truly love to have the NOW here on Weds. to help publicize this event, and maybe to even mention the upcoming Wave game that will be honoring Mike Dillett as well, Sunday, Feb. 21st.
