Residents Invited to “Work Out Against Hunger” at Nov. 21 Fitness Boot Camp

Nov. 3, 2009 | 0 comments

New Berlin, Wis. – Thanksgiving is a season of contrasts. Some people worry about overeating and gaining weight, while others worry about having anything to eat at all.

Local fitness entrepreneur Jeremy Belter is working to address both sides of the coin.

Belter, who operates “Fat Blasting Fitness Boot Camps” in New Berlin, will donate all proceeds from his Nov. 21 workout session to the Hunger Task Force to purchase Thanksgiving food baskets for needy families. The 9 a.m. “boot camp” will be held at Star of Bethlehem Church, 3700 S. Casper Drive, New Berlin.

The “boot camp” is a 30-minute full-body circuit training regimen. Participants should arrive by 8:45 a.m. and bring their own exercise mat and dumbbells. Suggested minimum donation is $15 per session.

“The goal of my fitness boot camps is to help people improve their physical and mental health,” Belter said. “It’s great to add another positive focus by benefiting the Hunger Task Force and helping put food on the table of families who otherwise might be hungry on Thanksgiving.”

Belter, 31, has worked as a fitness coach for five years. He operates the “Fat Blasting Boot Camps” under the auspices of his company, Fitness4U. His charitable sessions are part of a nationwide initiative titled Boot Camps With a Purpose, started in 2007 by a fitness club owner in Exton, Pa.

The Hunger Task Force participates in numerous fund-raisers, but none literally as physically strenuous as the fitness boot camp, said Marie Greenfield, its Community Relations Manager.

“I really appreciate that Jeremy is doing this,” Greenfield said. “It’s contributions from individuals and businesses such as his that allow the Hunger Task Force to continue providing much-needed food and education to the community.”

Founded in 1974, the Hunger Task Force is a community-supported organization that works to prevent hunger and malnutrition by providing food to people in need today and by promoting social policies to achieve food security tomorrow. More information is available at www.hungertaskforce.org.
