Batzner Says National Pest Management Month is Just Around the Corner

March 30, 2009 | 0 comments

With April, 2009 designated by President Obama as the 30th Annual “National Pest

Management Month,” Batzner Pest Management, New Berlin, joins the National Pest Management

Association in reminding Wisconsin residents that today’s pest management practices are a meaningful

societal contribution to the protection of food, health and property from the threats posed by pests.

”Today’s effective pest management is green and far removed from the days when

technicians only sprayed pesticides to battle infestations, says Jerry Batzner, president of the company

bearing his name. "Pest management professionals now use new and improved technologies and

Integrated Pest Management (IPM) methods for control."

These include repellents used to prevent queen wasps from building nests in roof

underhangs, house cedar shakes or other popular wasp locations; and pheromone traps used as sex

attractants to lure insects to their doom.

"Our company was among the first professional pest control firms in Wisconsin to

develop and implement a successful IPM program," he says. “Going green has never been so

important. Our goal is to help Wisconsin become a much healthier place. We’re the only company in the

state to officially provide QualityProGreen™ and Green Shield Certified ™ services. These certifications

mandate that we not only follow guidelines as to how we provide our green services, but also ensure

that we employ non-chemical ways to eliminate pests. As part of these programs, we are audited by an

independent third party to make sure we’re complying with the practices and guidelines set forth by

each.”

Batzner’s company has been in business for more than 60 years and has been a family

owned business for all that time. Along with Milwaukee, they have service centers in Fond du Lac,

Oshkosh, Racine and Madison.
