Congratulations New Berlin Swim Club (NBSC) Swimmers!

Abby Carter, Kali Kaiser, Gabrielle Matiszik and Emma Verdun competed in the 12+Under Short Course State Meet on February 24-26, 2012. Abby qualified to swim 50 and 100 freestyle, 50 and 100 butterfly. Kali qualified to swim 500 and 1000 free, 400 IM and 200 breaststroke. Gabrielle qualified for the 50 and 100 backstroke and 100 free. All three girls along with Emma swam the 200 and 400 medley relays and the 200 and 400 free relays.

 

The following week (March 1-4, 2012) the 13+Over Short Course State Swimmers: Jenny Anderson, Andrew Baird, Allison Bellford, Nicole Bellford, Sara Biro, Paige Carter, Jordan Keiser, Matthew Olenchek, Taylor Petrauski, Shayna Putney, Samantha Rottel, Emily Szydlowski and Madison Tew placed 8th over-all team in Division 2.

 

Award winners in the 13-14 age group include Nicole Bellford 11th 200 fly (2:14.77); Sara Biro 10th in the 200 breast (2:29.53)* and Maddi Tew 2nd in the 100 free (51.91)* and 200 free (1:52.39)*, 5th in the 500 free (5:03.90), 10th in the 200 fly (2:12.72) and 12th in the 100 fly (59.91). The 800 free relay took 3rd (7:50.63)* with Paige Carter, Nicole Bellford, Shayna Putney and Maddi Tew. The 5th place 400 free relay (3:37.99)* included Paige, Nicole, Sara Biro and Maddi. Also earning team points was the 9th place 400 medley relay (4:07.29)* and 13th place 200 medley relay (1:54.82)* with Paige, Sara, Nicole and Maddi. The 9th place 200 free relay (1:41.29)* with Paige, Shayna, Sara and Maddi also earned points.

 

15-16 age group award winners were Matthew Olenchek 11th in the 500 free (4:54.69) and 14th in the 100 back (55.37) and Sam Rottel 10th in the 50 free (24.37).

 

Senior swimmer Alli Bellford is the new State Champion in the 50 freestyle with a winning time of 23.61. Alli was also 9th in the 100 free (52.62).

 

With State completed Alli Bellford, Nicole Bellford (qualified for 2 events), Sara Biro (qualified for 3 events), Paige Carter (qualified for 3 events), Jordan Keiser, Matthew Olenchek (qualified for 3 events), Shayna Putney, Sam Rottel (qualified for 2 events), Emily Szydlowski and Madison Tew (qualified for 2 events) headed to Pleasant Prairie to compete in the USA Swimming Speedo Championship Series Meet (March 8-11, 2012). They competed against teams from Arizona, Colorado, Iowa, Illinois, Minnesota, New Jersey, New Mexico, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wisconsin and the New England area. The women’s 400 meter free relay placed 6th (4:06.11)* with Alli, Maddi, Paige and Sam.

 

On March 20-24, 2012 Alli Bellford, Paige Carter, Sam Rottel and Madison Tew traveled to Orlando, FL to take part in the NSCA Junior Nationals. Alli placed 19th in the 50 free with a time of 26.88* during the LCM finals. The 400 free relay (3:34.69)* set a new NBSC club record during the SCY prelims.
