Eisenhower girls swimming

The New Berlin Eisenhower girls swimming team finished third in the Woodland Conference Championship on Saturday at Greenfield High School.

The Lions scored 259 points to finish behind Shorewood (403) and Wauwatosa West (395) and finished with four silver medals and two bronze.

Allie Bellford won two silver medals in the 50-yard freestyle (24.84 seconds) and the 100 free (55.08) and Leah Fraleigh won one in the 1-meter diving (338.85 points).

The 200 free relay of Sam Rottel, Steffi Durley, Nicole Bellford and Allie Bellford (1 minute, 43.38 seconds) earned the other silver medal.

Belford won a bronze medal in the 100 butterfly (1:03.12) as did the 400 free relay of Rottel, Durley, Bellford and Bellford (3:49.47).

West girls swimming

The Vikings were led by freshman Madison Tew on their way to a fifth-place finish (225 points) at the Woodland Conference Championships held Saturday at Greenfield High School.

Tew was crowned Conference Champion in both the 200-yard freestyle (1:56.78) and the 500 free (5:10.93) and set two pool records in the process.

Senior Lindsey Rodenkirk earned all-conference honors claiming second in the 100 backstroke (1:02.42) and was sixth in the 200 individual medley (2:22.85).

Together they teamed up with Kayla Rasmussen and Emily Szydlowski for fourth place in the 200 free relay (1:46.88) and with Chloe Banholzer and Szydlowski in the 400 free relay (3:50.51) which was also fourth.

Savannah Heitman finished fifth in the diving (248.05 points) while Kelsey Dickinson was eighth (233.95 points). Szydlowski took eighth in the 100 butterfly (1:06.84) and ninth in the 200 IM (2:26.52). Banholzer was 10th in the 200 IM (2:26.55) and 13th in the 100 fly (1:10.27).

Amber Kazinski came in ninth in the 50 free (0:27.41) and 14th in the 100 free (1:02.45). Rasmussen was 11th in the 50 free (0:27.98) and was part of the 12th place 400 free relay with Molly Wannamaker, Jenny Graham and Kazinski (4:16.02).

Lauren Kritter took 13th in the 100 breaststroke (1:21.91) and swam the breast leg of the 14th place 200 medley relay with Maggie Kellermann, Wannamaker, and Abby Jaquish (2:13.73). Jenny Mathias was 16th in the 100 breast (1:23.94).

West boys cross country

New Berlin West senior Chase Robles finished 65th Saturday at the WIAA State Cross Country Meet at Ridges Golf Course in Wisconsin Rapids.

Robles ran a 17:26.06, finishing the first mile in 5:18, the second in 5:48 and the final 1.1 in 6.26.

Eisenhower boys soccer

The New Berlin Eisenhower boys soccer team announced its award winners at the Lions end-of-the-season banquet on Sunday.

Blake Duffin received the Player of the Year Award, one of five honors given out by coach Gary Troy.

The Defender of the Year was Andrew Swiecichowski, the Rookie of the Year is Zachary Jasulski, the Most Improved Player is Joshua Luna and the Champion's League Winner is Nick Popp.

The Lions also had four all-Woodland Conference players on some level.

Hesselbach was a first-team forward and Swiecichowski was a second-team defender. Honorable mention positions went to forward Ross Riopelle and midfielder Duffin.

Hesselbach was also a Scholar-Athlete.

Troy will lose 12 seniors off this year's team - Duffin, Hesselbach, Jasulski, Luna, Riopelle, Swiecichowski, Jake Antoniewicz, Derek Bachmann, Jeremy Blackbourn, Michael Dunham, Andrew Melian and Lukas Walter.

The Lions finished in seventh place in the Woodland Conference with a 5-5-1 record, but they played some "great soccer" at the end of the season, said Troy, beating Wisconsin Lutheran in the regional.

Muskego girls cross country

Freshman Leanna Barr ran 74th in the WIAA Division 1 State Meet on Saturday at Wisconsin Rapids, posting 15 minutes, 46 seconds.

That put her in the top half of the field of 190 runners at Ridges Golf Course.

Muskego boys volleyball

The Warriors rolled past South Milwaukee, 25-8, 25-13, 25-7, on Friday to claim a WIAA regional championship.

"We just overmatched them," coach Joe Arbinger said. "When you are able to put the ball down, good things happen."

Arbinger praised Tony Fugarino, Joey Bandoszeski and David Mlachnik for leading the way.

Muskego advanced to take on Franklin on Tuesday in a sectional semifinal. If the Warriors won, they play host to either Kenosha Tremper or New Berlin on Nov. 3 in a sectional title game.

Muskego also dropped three matches in a quadrangular at Westosha Central on Oct. 24, falling to Waukesha West, 24-26, 28-26, 15-12; to Wauwatosa East, 23-25, 25-19, 15-10; and to Westosha Central, 25-22, 25-23.

The Warriors played without Fugarino, who had concussion symptoms.

New Berlin United boys volleyball

After beating Kenosha Bradford to win the regional championship on Friday, the New Berlin United moved on to face Kenosha Tremper this past Tuesday on the road.

New Berlin swept Bradford in some competitive games (25-19, 25-17, 25-20).

Nick Olson led the way with 15 kills and three blocks, while Steve Zeske dished out 34 assists and John Collins had eight digs.
