Youth Football sign-up coming up for Generals

New Berlin - The New Berlin Generals Youth Football program of the AAYFL has set its new player sign-up dates for the 2012 season.

Sign-ups are scheduled for March 10 and March 31, from 9 to 11 a.m. both days, in the Eisenhower cafeteria.

The full tackle league is open to all kids going into third through eighth grades in the fall and who live in the New Berlin School District.

The cost to play is $320 upfront, which will be reduced to $220 in August following participation in the program's fundraiser. For information, contact Generals President Matt Kern at mkern3341@wi.rr.com.

Women's golf league looking for members

The Tuesday women's 18-hole golf league at Naga-Waukee Golf Course is accepting new members for the 2012 season. All interested players must have a handicap of 36 or less.

Play begins in May and continues throughout the summer. Golf begins about 6:45 a.m. and continues until about 8:30 a.m.

Wanaki Swingers accepting golfers for Tuesday league

The Wanaki Swingers, a Tuesday morning women's nine-hole golf league at Wanaki Golf Course, is accepting new members for the 2012 season.

This is a non-handicap league and play begins May 8 and continues through Aug. 28. Tee times begin at 6:56 a.m. and continue to 8 a.m. For information, call the golf course at (262) 252-3480 and ask for the contact person for the Wanaki Swingers.

Muskego's Borneman earns NCAA academic honor

Muskego - Matt Borneman, a Muskego High School graduate, earned NCAA Division III All-Academic honors for cross country last season.

Borneman, who is from Wind Lake, is a junior at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. He finished 34th at the 2011 Division III Midwest Regional for the Pioneers and second among Platteville runners.

To qualify for the team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade-point average of 3.30 or greater and placed in the top 35 at NCAA regional meets.

RAP tryouts slated for March 3, 11 in Muskego

Muskego - Tryouts for the Wisconsin RAP program will be held March 3 and March 11, from 2 to 4 p.m. each day, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Muskego.

The freshman girls will compete from 2 to 2:40 p.m., the freshman boys from 2:40 to 3:20 and the sophomore boys from 3:20 to 4 p.m.

The cost is $5 per player.

April youth basketball tourney has several team openings

North American Youth Sports still has openings in its annual spring youth basketball tournament at the Milwaukee School of Engineering on April 13-15.

This tournament will feature 10 different brackets. They include boys and girls in grades 5-12. All grades are based on the grade in which a student is currently enrolled.

The entry fee for this tournament is $145 and guarantees each team a minimum of three games. There will be awards presented in each bracket. The entry deadline is March 23.

North American Youth Sports announced that there are openings in its annual spring youth basketball tournament at University Lake School in Hartland on March 30-April 1.

This tournament will feature 10 different brackets: fifth-sixth grade boys, fifth-sixth grade girls, seventh-grade boys, seventh-grade girls, eighth-grade boys, eighth-grade girls, ninth-10th grade boys, ninth-10th grade girls, 11th-12th grade boys and 11th-12th grade girls. All grades are based on the grade in which a student is currently enrolled.
