Muskego's Grunert helps Gold All-Star team

Muskego graduate Jimmy Grunert tallied two goals for the Gold squad in the 21st annual Masonic Soccer All-Star Game at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater on July 28.

His goals helped the Gold team down the Blue, 6-2.

The event was sponsored by the Wisconsin Soccer Coaches Association and included a camp for underprivileged youth players, training sessions with coaches Bob Gansler and Jimmy Banks and a banquet.

Pumas holding tryouts on Saturday afternoon

Tryouts for the U-14 New Berlin Pumas baseball team are from 3 to 5 p.m. Aug. 11 at Malone Field, 16400 W. Al Stigler Parkway.

Junior Popes schedule tryouts for baseball team

Franklin - Tryouts for the Junior Popes baseball program are from 1 to 4 p.m. Aug. 11 at the Lions Field ball diamonds on 80th Street south of Ryan Road, Franklin.

The U-8 and U-9 group tryouts run from 1 to 2:30 p.m. and the U-10 and U-11 from 2:30 to 4 p.m.

Also, coaches are needed for the U-8, U-9 and U-11 age levels. Teams play between 14 and 20 league games and three to five tournaments per season.
