Basketball Results: Week 2

Boys Minis

Cavaliers, Kings:  The Kings had a scoring draught for the game, but not due to a lack of hustle.  Nick Bonneville and Henry Tormala added pressure on the ball with key defense.  Gabe Oldenburg led the Kings in rebounding.

 

Boys Minors

Pacers 20, Suns 11:  DJ Nennig and Sam Thut each scored 7 points.  Mitchell Bernards, Joshua White, and Carter White scored 2 points apiece.

 

Girls Minors

Mavericks (New Berlin Fire) 14, Nets (New Berlin Police) 16:  A great defensive effort by Maria Skoufis, Kaiti Buchta, Victoria Fredrickson, Kira Loomer and Natalia Vasic helped the Nets win.  The offensive effort was led by Amanda Leder and Gabrielle Majinski with 6 points each and Sarah Leitinger with 2 points. 

 

Girls Juniors

Rockets (New Berlin Fire) 42, Trail Blazers 6:  The Rockets and Trail Blazers had a close first half, with both teams playing strong and working the ball around.  The Rockets had their eye on the ball and controlled the game with steals and rebounds.  Rocket steals for the game included Jenna Linssen with eight, Elise Arnas had five, and Morgan Lynch, Monica Lauerman, Lizzi Lovdal and Rachel Rasmussen contributing two each.  At the end of the first half, the score was close at Rockets 12-4.   The Rockets came out strong in the second half, with Kayla Moran hitting a couple of long outside shots.  The Rockets were strong on the boards, with Rachel Rasmussen bringing down 11 rebounds, Elise Arnas with 8, Jenna Linssen with 7, Monica Lauerman with 3 and Lizzi Lovdal with 2.  Leading scorers for the Rockets were Jenna Linssen and Rachel Rasmussen with 14 points each, Elise Arnas with 8 points, and Kayla Moran with 4.

 

Boys Majors

Cavaliers (New Berlin Fire) 41, Celtics 43:  Mike Hilger scored 2 of his team high 9 points with 2 seconds remaining in regulation to help the Celtics beat the Cavaliers 43-41.  Zac Nordstrom, Lukas Lauer and David Franke each scored 7 points for the Celtics who evened their record at 1-1.
