Muskego-New Berlin boys tennis wrap-up for April 30

April 27, 2009

Muskego

The Warriors improved to 2-0 in Southeast Conference dual meets with a 7-0 sweep of South Milwaukee on April 23.

Winners at singles were Kyle Kamer in the first spot, 6-4, 6-3; Keith Kennedy at second, 6-4, 6-7 (5-7), 7-6 (7-3); Matt Lownik at third, 6-2, 6-1; and Blake Kraussel at fourth, 6-4, 6-3.

At doubles, winners were Azzam Tabbal and Zach Proeber, 6-4, 6-3; Simon Bognar and Shawn Kotecki, 6-1, 6-2; and Chris Ziolkowski and Ryan Holt, 7-5, 6-1.

Ziolkowski and Holt boosted their record to 5-0.

"Everyone won in straight sets, except Keith, who went three sets, with the last two being tie-breakers," coach Jake Adamson said. "Keith likes to keep it interesting out there. He showed a lot of mental toughness in the third set."

In the East Troy Invitational on April 16, the Warriors claimed individual championships at fourth singles (Drew Gunderson), second doubles (Ziolkowski and Holt) and third doubles (Jon Bauer and David Nickel).

Muskego (4-1 in duals overall going into this week) will welcome Burlington at 4:30 p.m. today, April 30, in another SEC meet.

New Berlin Eisenhower

The Lions dropped a 4-3 decision to Whitnall in their Woodland Conference opener April 22 at the Princeton Club.

Winners for Eisenhower were Praven Sankrithi at fourth singles (6-2, 6-4), the first doubles team of Matt Dustrude and Mark Fleming (6-2, 6-1) and the third duo of Tong Wang and Nick Lepak (7-5, 6-1).

The Lions went on to fall to New Berlin West, 4-3, on April 23 (see separate story).

Eisenhower slipped to 1-3 in dual meets and will travel to Brown Deer for another Woodland dual at 3:30 p.m. today, April 30.
