Then with 5:55 left in the game, Watson finished a drive with a 4-yard run to make the final score 33-12.
"Waukesha West is tough. They played well," coach Al Moroder said. "Our non-conference games did a good job of preparing us for conference.
"We won the second half. Watson ran well, we had two interceptions and a fumble recovery."
The Vikings started Jonathan Kozlowski at quarterback with senior quarterback Dylan Wiese on the sidelines with a broken shin.
He completed 3-for-9 for 61 yards and had an interception. He also rushed twice for 10 yards.
"He's working hard and this was a huge test for him," Moroder said of his sophomore signal-caller.

Elijah Fort came out and got the Wolverines on the scoreboard with a 19-yard run and a 14-0 lead.
