New Berlin — The New Berlin West girls basketball team's season fell just short of a regional final showdown with crosstown rival New Berlin Eisenhower.
That's what a defending state champion looks like. Wisconsin Lutheran, the reigning boys basketball champ in Division 2, immediately took it to 2008 champion New Berlin Eisenhower for a 71-55 regional final victory Saturday afternoon at Milwaukee Marquette. (4)

New Berlin Eisenhower's boys and girls basketball teams have both reached the halfway point of the season with unblemished records.
Following the New Berlin Eisenhower boys basketball team's 40-36 win over Little Chute in the New Berlin Classic on Dec. 29 at New Berlin West, Lions coach Dave Scheidegger just wanted to get off the court and get to the locker room.
New Berlin West soccer coach Mike Dillett, who passed away last week at 59, was a success in many areas of his life, especially athletics. The father of 12 coached and played soccer at a high level for many years.

Host New Berlin Eisenhower defeated Milwaukee School of Languages, 77-28, in a regional quarterfinal March 11.
The host Lions earned a 62-49 over Milwaukee Lutheran in a regional semifinal contest March 4.
Host New Berlin West cruised to a 62-35 victory over St. Francis on March 3.
The top wrestlers in the state took to mats during the first day of the WIAA State Tournament in Madison on Feb. 25.
