New Berlin grad makes Betty White leap for joy on 'Tonight Show' segment

Aug. 20, 2013

New Berlin — New Berlin West High School graduate Kevin Bania appeared on the Aug. 8 "Tonight Show with Jay Leno" in a segment called "Does This Delight Betty White?"

Her delight was obvious when he did a standing jump of more than 4-1/2 feet. The total height of his jump was 55 inches.

Bania's appearance begins near the 1:10 mark.

Bania, a fitness coach, was invited on the show after the talent manager caught videos of Bania's amazing leaps on YouTube. Bania's best jump there was more than five feet (64.5 inches), but show planners felt 55 inches was high enough.

As a reward for "delighting" the actress, Bania received two tickets to the Green Bay Packers/Seattle Seahawks football game in Green Bay.

Since graduating in 2000 from New Berlin West, Bania earned a degree in civil engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2005.

He also is a U.S. Army veteran, having served two tours of duty in Iraq with the 82nd Airborne. He now lives in Oconomowoc and is a full-time student at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, where he will receive a degree in spring in kinesiology and business.

Bania is a certified crossfit trainer and coaches at Lake Country CrossFit in Oconomowoc and Cream City CrossFit in Milwaukee. He is also a bartender at the Brookfield Suites Hotel and Convention Center.
