Brookfield — Members of the city's Plan Commission next week will get a chance to see some alternative designs for a Red Robin restaurant at Brookfield Square.
The changes will be presented after commissioners last month rejected the gourmet burger chain's first proposal for being too bland.
Red Robin, which operates nine restaurants in Wisconsin, plans to tear down the former Houlihan's restaurant on the mall's east side and build a new freestanding 5,700-square-foot structure. The restaurant also would have a full-service bar.
Houlihan's closed in late January, and Red Robin plans to open in November, according to Brookfield Square's Web site.
Brookfield Director of Community Development Dan Ertl said the revised building architecture, including changes to the restaurant's entryway, will provide commissioners with a more distinctive design, something members said they wanted before tabling the issue last month.
The commission will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday at Brookfield City Hall, 2000 N. Calhoun Road.
Red Robin isn't the only newcomer to Brookfield Square. Francesca's Collections, which the mall's Web site said plans to open this spring, is a women's fashion retailer with stores in 28 states, including Wisconsin.
The chain, which sells clothing, jewelry and accessories, has a store Glendale's Bayshore Town Center, as well as locations in Madison and Middleton.
