New Berlin — The musical "The Scarlet Pimpernel," which ran on Broadway from 1997 to 2000 will come to the Eisenhower High School stage Feb. 25 for four performances over the weekend.
Show times are 7:30 p.m. Feb. 25, 26 and 27, and at 2 p.m. Feb. 28, at Eisenhower, 4333 S. Sunnyslope Road.
Set in France and England during the French Revolution, the show focuses on Sir Percy Blakeney who is tormented by revolutionaries' use of the guillotine to rid France of its aristocracy. So, he gathers a group of men to help him rescue potential victims of the guillotine's blade.
The plot is complicated by Sir Percy Blakeney's love and marriage to actress Marguerite St. Just. Percy discovers too late that his new wife has ties to the plot against a noble who was executed and to Citizen Chauvelin who is deeply involved in the executions of the aristocracy.
The conflict between Blakeney and Chauvelin and their love for Marguerite form the basis of the plot and the inspiration for some of the songs.
Sir Percy Blakeney is played by Brady Bachmann; Marguerite St. Just by Chloe Bell, Citizen Chauvelin by Jake Starsiak, Armand St. Just by Nikhil Deshpande, and Marie Toussad by Rachel O'Brien.
In The League of The Scarlet Pimpernel are Kevin Wertz, Ryan Pandl, Chad Abramowski, Jamie Sugar, Brandon Fraleigh, Tim Ohlert, Van Corey and Brad Prom.
Tickets are $10, general; $7, seniors; $5, students. Advance ticket sales will begin on Friday in the Eisenhower main office between 2:30 and 3:30 p.m. Advance sales will continue through Feb. 26. Ticket also may be purchased at the door. All seats are reserved.
