Voters in districts 1, 5 go to polls Tuesday

Feb. 9, 2010 | 0 comments

New Berlin — Voters in the 1st and 5th aldermanic districts will go to the polls to vote in Tuesday's primary election.

Voters in the 5th will cast their ballots for alderman. But with the withdrawal of one of the three candidates for the 5th District, only two candidates are officially still in the race. Incumbent Joseph Poshepny withdrew for health reasons, leaving Jacob Krueger and Deena Liska as the only official candidates.

The withdrawal was too late for Poshepny's name to be taken off the ballot.

District 5 voters will vote at Eisenhower High School, 4333 S. Sunny Slope Road.

District 1 voters will cast their ballots for two at-large seats on the Elmbrook School Board. The candidates are incumbent Robert Ziegler along with Beth Horneffer, Warren Groff, Sandra Schultz, Genevieve Schmidt and Kathryn Wilson. Go to BrookfieldNOW.com for candidate profiles and voters guides.

The top four vote-getters will go on to the April 6 general election. District 1 polls are at the Hickory Grove Senior Center, 2600 S. Sunnyslope Road.

Both the polling places will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
