Oct. 26, 2009 | 0 comments

New Berlin — With more than 25 boards, committees and commissions to be filled by residents who want to serve their communities and have a voice in city government, New Berlin Mayor Jack Chiovatero is looking for volunteers to be appointed to vacancies on several boards.

The Board of Review needs someone to serve an unfinished term ending May 31, 2013. Members of this board may not occupy any public office or be publicly employed. This board is authorized to hear residents' challenges to the assessed values of their properties.

The Crime Prevention Committee has an opening for someone to represent district 3 for two years. The advisory committee meets at 6:30 p.m. on the third Monday of the month at City Hall.

The Parks, Recreation & Forestry Commission has a partial-term vacancy ending April 30, 2010. The commission makes recommendations to the Common Council on parks, recreation buildings and grounds, playgrounds and ice rinks, and development, maintenance and operation of all public recreational facilities and activities as assigned by the Common Council. Meetings are at 6:30 p.m. the second Monday of the month at City Hall.

The Youth Advisory Board has three openings. The board advises on matters involving youth, their roles and their place in the city. The board is open to both middle school and high school students. Meetings are held at 4 p.m. the third Tuesday of the month at City Hall. More information is available at www.newberlin.org/government/leadership/boards--commissions.aspx.
