Muskego alderman resigns, citing additional responsibilities

Jan. 29, 2014

Citing increased job and volunteer responsibilities, Muskego Alderman Rob Glazier resigned at Tuesday's Common Council meeting.

The council is likely to appoint someone to serve the more than one year remaining on Glazier's term. City officials said it is too late to include the open seat on the spring ballot.

Glazier was appointed in summer 2012 to fill a 4th District alderman vacancy, then won election to a two-year term in April 2013.

After he accepted a new employment position last fall that changed his schedule, Glazier considered resigning but decided to see if he could make everything work.

"I tried to hobble along," he said Wednesday.

However, after a time, he realized time the situation was too impractical.

"I missed some meetings," he said. "That's a sign that things overlapped too much to be effective."

Glazier said he thought it was best to step aside and let someone else serve who can give the job the attention it needs.
