Clarification: Aug. 18

Aug. 15, 2011

An article in the Aug. 11 issue about a legal team that could defend New Berlin in a lawsuit referred to city's initial opposition to an affordable housing project at the City Center. "Initially opposed by the city" is a direct reference to the action that precipitated the U.S. Department of Justice lawsuit - the city's decision in July 2010 to deny the development compared to its much more recent decision to allow it to proceed. However, in May 2010, the Plan Commission narrowly approved the proposal before later withdrawing its support. The city also voiced strong concerns in January 2010 on the proposal, but no vote was taken prior to May 2010.
