Megan Swanson and Tom Haynes of New Berlin were married July 30, 2011, at Saguaro Buttes in Tucson, Ariz.

Parents of the bride are Cindy and Jim Swanson of Brookfield. The groom's parents are Carol and Tom Haynes Sr. of Waterford.

The Rev. Dave Hallstrom officiated the 6 p.m. ceremony, which was followed by a reception at Saguaro Buttes.

The bride wore a white chiffon Maggie Sottero gown with a beaded V-neckline and halter straps. She carried yellow calla lilies.

Cindy Swanson of Brookfield, mother of the bride, was matron of honor. The bridesmaid was Jennifer Jackson of Waterford, sister of the groom, and bridal attendant was Cady Peterson of Little Chute, niece of the bride.

Tim Haynes of Racine, brother of the groom, was best man. The groomsman was Tom Haynes Sr. of Waterford, father of the groom, and the ring bearer was Fischer Jackson of Waterford, nephew of the groom.

The bride earned her bachelor's degree from the University of Arizona and is pursuing her master's degree at Cardinal Stritch University. She is a third-grade teacher with the Waukesha School District.

The groom earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin and is also pursuing his master's degree at Cardinal Stritch University. He is a fourth-grade teacher with the Waukesha School District.

The couple planned a one-week honeymoon in Jamaica.

The two met at Cardinal Stritch University, became engaged in August 2010, and married in Tucson, where Megan went to college and where her family has a vacation home in the foothills of the Rincon Mountains next to Saguaro National Park.
