• Jay Stokes of New Berlin, a junior at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, received the university's Outstanding Student Leader Scholarship Award of $500. Stokes has been a resident assistant, orientation leader of the Hawk Squad, Warhawk Ambassador, and peer mentor, among other extracurricular activities.

• Toni Lee Piechura, a University of Wisconsin-Whitewater student and a Muskego native, was recognized and rewarded for strong leadership skills by the university. Piechura recently received the James R. Connor Student Leadership Grant, worth $750. She is involved with the Leadership Involvement Team, Law Society, College Republicans and Whitewater Student Government.

• Michael James Baird of New Berlin was named to the Dean's List at Iowa State University for the spring 2009 semester.

• Jenna Neuberger of Muskego has been named to the Dean's List of Wisconsin Lutheran College. Jenna is the daughter of Josh and Katherine Neuberger.

• Shannon Winkowski of Muskego was named to the Dean's List at the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design for the spring 2009 semester.

• Eric White of New Berlin was named to the President's List at the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design for the spring 2009 semester.

SCHOOLSCENE

• Andrew Klain of Muskego has been awarded the Best Buy @ 15 Scholarship for 2009. The scholarship is awarded based on academic achievement, community involvement and work experience.

• Ryan J. Kowalski,a member of the Muskego High School Class of 2009, won a 2009 PPG Industries Foundation Scholarship in recognition of academic promise.

• Heather Henkel received the first InPro Corporation Scholarship at Muskego High School. She was chosen based on high academic achievement, service to school and community, and goals for the future. She will attend the Colorado School of Mines to study petroleum engineering.

YOURNEIGHBORS

• Tom Kosinski of Muskego has been named Agent of the Year by American Family Insurance for his outstanding sale of American Family Insurance products in 2008. Tom has been an agent for American Family since July 1991.

• Joe Francaviglia of New Berlin is a summer intern at U.S. Sen. Russ Feingold's office in Washington, D.C.

SERVICENEWS

• Army Sgt. 1st Class Michael C. Giese is returning to the U.S. after a deployment to Iraqi Theater of Operations in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Giese, a platoon sergeant with 13 years of military service, is assigned to the 404th Aviation Support battalion, Combat Aviation, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Hood, Killeen, Texas. He is the son of Wayne and Judith Giese of Muskego, and the husband of Jessica. Giese is a 1996 graduate of Muskego High School.

• Army National Guard Pvt. Robert M. Peterson graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. He is the son of Mike and Julie Peterson of New Berlin.

• Army National Guard Pvt. Daniel W. Evans, a 2008 graduate of Muskego High School, graduated from Basic Combat Training at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla. He is the son of Jeff Evans of Muskego.

• Air Force Airman Justin J. Peschman, a 2006 graduate of Martin Luther High School in Greendale, was an honor graduate of basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio. He is the son of Joseph Peschman of New Berlin and Linda Peschman of Tomah.
