Area SWAT teams storm New Berlin neighborhood in training exercise

May 15, 2014

New Berlin — Heavily armed police swarmed into a New Berlin neighborhood and nearly invisible snipers trained their guns on two houses where hostages were being held.

As terrifying as the scene was, all the hostages wanted to be there. For that matter, so did the bad guys. All Thursday morning, they were part of the Suburban Critical Incident Team with officers from New Berlin, Muskego, Brookfield, Elm Grove, Hartland, Chenequa, Pewaukee, Mukwonago and Delafield practice drills at the two homes.

Everybody in the neighborhood gave permission for helmeted SWAT officers with rifles to hide behind their trees or rush the bad guys from their yards. Shots were fired and bad guys went down and it was all to be ready for the day that it won’t be a drill.
