Scams and Cons Against the Elderly Still Prevalent
Scams and cons aimed at the elderly continue to plague New Berlin and several of our residents have been targeted recently. The New Berlin Police Department is asking for your help in educating older friends and relatives to keep their money safe from predators, many of them from out of the country.
In the past year, our two most reported scams have been the "grandchild in trouble" scam and the "you've won the lottery" scam. Both of these usualy originate outside of the United States, the most recent ones we've seen have been from England and Canada.
