Established in 1965, HAWS assists over 6,000 animals and welcomes more than 31,000 human visitors annually. As an "open admissions" shelter we lead the community in animal welfare and assure sanctuary for all animals in need, regardless of age, health or temperament. HAWS is a non-profit, entirely donor-fund organization with an active humane education program, and both wildlife and companion animal rescue services for Waukesha County.

Beau is a handsome, 4 year old Hound Mix. He is a fun and active young boy. He would prefer to play with other dogs or a puppy over a toy. Beau also enjoys snuggling up next to his person! As with most hounds, his nose can get him in trouble. If there is food within smelling distance, he will find it! Due to his love of food, we would recommend a home with older children.
It is best to keep your pets indoors when temperatures fall
Reminders for pet owners: Pets are required to have an updated license in January – check with your municipality for details. Keep pets safely indoors when the temperatures dip, other than for potty breaks or very short walks. Clean salt off sensitive paw pads and check ears for frostbite!
