Neighborhood Watch Success Stories

Success Story #1:  In late October of 2007, 3 actors were involved in a burglary at Pick N’ Save, 15445 W. National Ave.  New Berlin Police subsequently apprehended the 2 actors that committed the burglary shortly after it was reported.  A citizen in the area at the time of the burglary made observations of a person acting suspiciously following the burglary.  This citizen provided information to the New Berlin Police which led to the arrest of the third actor involved in the burglary. Success Story #2:  In mid November of 2007, 2 actors were involved in an armed robbery at Open Pantry, 15551 W. Cleveland Ave.  The actors fled the scene prior to the arrival of police.  Based on observations reported to the New Berlin Police by one of its citizens, information was passed on to other area law enforcement agencies leading to the arrest of the two actors later that night by the Milwaukee Police.  These actors were linked to several other robberies in the Milwaukee Metro area.     Neither citizen in each of these Neighborhood Watch success stories was aware there was a crime that had been committed or was being committed at the time of their observations.  They simply observed activity that was suspicious in nature and chose to report that suspicious activity to the police.  The New Berlin Police Department encourages everyone to report any suspicious activity they may observe, even if they think it’s nothing.  If it wasn’t for the two citizens in the above success stories, three criminals may have never been apprehended.   For more information about our Neighborhood Watch Program, please contact me. Officer Tony FusNew Berlin Police DepartmentCommunity Services Division262-780-8148fus@nbpolice.org
