The Fur (& Feather!) Flyer

Established in 1965, HAWS assists over 6,000 animals and welcomes more than 31,000 human visitors annually. As an "open admissions" shelter we lead the community in animal welfare and assure sanctuary for all animals in need, regardless of age, health or temperament. HAWS is a non-profit, entirely donor-fund organization with an active humane education program, and both wildlife and companion animal rescue services for Waukesha County.

As summer comes to a close, HAWS looks ahead to yet another season of action and activities for pets and their people.

We showered kittens, went Mobile, rev'ed our engines and had a 'Fair'-ly great summer! Events helped raise money for the HAWS cause while also creating awareness and finding new adoptive homes for the animals in our care.

So bring on fall! In the next few months we look forward to participating in and hosting many more events - events that both our 2- and 4-legged family can join.

In September we are pleased to be the beneficiary of the Chewbarka 5K run at Minooka Park. This Star Wars themed walk/run on 9/13 encourages you to dress in costume together! All the details are available at chewbarka5k.com. Also on September 13th we are joining in the inaugural Rock Be Their Voice Event, which brings several charities together to fight domestic abuse, bullying and animal abuse. Tickets are on sale now at RockBeTheirVoice.com. Finally, we present the Avian Extravaganza on Sunday, September 14th - this new, FREE seminar presents all the need-to-know info for bird owners and enthusiasts.

On to October!! Before the snow flies, Move Your Mutt with us on October 19th! Featuring a morning 10K run and 5K run/walk (Mutts welcome!), and a mid-day 1M walk, we'll be meeting in Oconomowoc to raise awareness for HAWS and our adoptable pets. Lace 'em up!

And finally, what would our fall be without our annual Halloween bash? Creatures of the Night will gather on Friday, October 24th, to enjoy silent auctions, fabulous prizes, festive food and drink, costume contests and adoptable HAWS pets. CV from B93.3 will be our special guest hostess...and we have a national celebrity rumored to join us, too (more on that to come)! Reservations will be accepted starting September 1st, but if you're thinking you'd like to be a VIP or sponsor you can reserve that now! Contact us at 262-542-8851, x112.

Bring on fall! (Well, maybe not the cool weather just yet...)
