Holy Apostles young engineers compete
Teams of seventh and eighth graders at Holy Apostles School in New Berlin participated in the Annual Wisconsin Regioinal Future City Competition sponsored by STEM Forward, during National Engineers Week.
The school continues to enter five future cities earch year under the direction of their teacher, Lisa Laabs. From September to January the students have been staying after classes twice a week, four hours each week, building models of their virtual cities and writing essays on topics concerning energy resource. Laabs noted they had to determine ways to generate power for their cities so they wouldn’t deplete natural resources. Thus, they had to provide a limited impact on environment.
