Schools & Discrimination
The School District of New Berlin proclaims on its Web site homepage:
The School District of New Berlin does not discriminate against individuals on the basis of age, sex, race, religion, national origin, ancestry, creed, pregnancy, marital or parental status, sexual orientation, or physical, mental, emotional, or learning disability. Federal law prohibits discrimination in education and employment on the basis of age, race, color, national origin, sex, religion, or disability.
Bravo for that declared non-discrimination stance and expression of tolerance for all persons regardless of their gender, religion, sexual orientation, etc.—and the message's prominent placement on the District's Web site.
What a contrast to the actions of the Itwamba County School District in Mississippi that canceled prom because a girl wanted to bring a female date to prom, and the Denver Archdiocese’s decision not to let a pre-school child of lesbians re-enroll in one of its Catholic schools.
