State Senator Mary Lazich (R-New Berlin) represents parts of four counties: Milwaukee, Waukesha, Racine, and Walworth. Her Senate District 28 includes New Berlin, Franklin, Greendale, Hales Corners, Muskego, Waterford, Big Bend, the town of Vernon and parts of Greenfield, East Troy, and Mukwonago. Senator Lazich has been in the Legislature for more than a decade. She considers herself a tireless crusader for lower taxes, reduced spending and smaller government.
This is very good news.
Last week, I issued a news release urging the state Assembly to take quick action on legislation (Senate Bill 439) to approve tax changes that would comply with a new federal rule allowing conversion of assets from a traditional IRA to a Roth IRA. The Senate had approved the bill, 33-0.
I am pleased the state Assembly voted 93-0 Thursday in support of Senate Bill 439.
Governor Doyle needs to sign this legislation into law as soon as possible so that those interested can take advantage of Roth IRA conversions.
Here is more background on the issue.
