Another City Land grab for more unwanted trails.

Common Council, Guest Editorials, Mayor Chiavatero

Guest editorial by Vern Bentley

Mayor Chiavatero has requested an affidavit from a Real Estate professional to prove that trails operating across private property cause land values to fall more than 10% as compared to property that has no trails in place. He received an answer but still insists on extending a trail into still another area.

NBCRG Spin & Blunders

Blogging, Elections, Local groups, political campaign scandal, Public records &information access

My NOW blog, unlike New Berlin Citizens for Responsible Government’s (NBCRG), conveys a person’s viewpoint (mine)---not a political action committee’s. And unlike NBCRG, I’ve never used my blog to endorse candidates for local public offices.

Ralph Heun’s (New Berlin Citizens for Responsible Government) March 7 diatribe was so full of malarkey, it would take multiple blog entries to respond to all of it.

New Berlin Citizens for Responsible Government Election Choices.

Common Council, New Berlin Elections

The New Berlin Citizens for Responsible Government (NBCRG) has invited all candidates for public office to our meetings for many years, to make a presentation on what the candidates vision is for the  various offices.

This year we again asked all candidates to make their views known to our members. They spoke, we listened and asked questions, and then we decided if we wanted to make any endorsements.   We did consider all statements on their positions as an indication of  what could be expected in the future.

Prescription Drug Abuse and Theft

community, Health

Some individuals are so determined or desperate to get their hands on certain prescription drugs, they swipe their own family’s medications or rob pharmacies.

Earlier this month, New BerlinNOW reported that Stone Pharmacy,14105 Greenfield Ave. was robbed of drugs (sucessfully or unsuccessfully) three times plus there was an unsuccessful attempt to rob the pharmacy of OxyContin in February ( the thief fled empty handed). NOW had also reported that  Walgreens at 3855 S. Moorland Rd. was robbed of $2,300 worth of OxyContin in January.

Holding Ald. Ken Harenda Accountable

Aldermen, City government, Development, Elections, Local groups

New Berlin aldermen receive $10,000 annually in taxpayer-funded salary and expenses (the Council President gets an extra $600). I don’t think it’s asking too much of Council President/Alderman Ken Harenda to do his homework and come prepared to vote/take action on items that are on the meeting agendas.

Re: Current NBCRG Endorsements

Aldermen, City government, Elections, environment, Local groups, Public records &information access

New Berlin Citizens for Responsible Government (NBCRG) has endorsed a passel of candidates, including these fellows------

Ted Wysocki, who is the only candidate running for alderman in District 2. NBCRG is endorsing him anyway and apparently doesn't care about Wysocki's history of poor leadership decisions in public office that helped get the City into costly losing legal battles/lawsuits.
