Alderman David Ament explains possible Joe Poshepney appointment to Council
Guest Statement
Ralph Heun
I would like to thank you for this opportunity to set the record straight and explain my position concerning Mr. Poshepney's resignation, because there is a considerable amount of inaccurate information about this issue.
There has never been any conspiracy by the Council or any alderman to remove Mr. Poshepny from office. Quite simply he resigned due to health reasons, leaving the 5th District seat vacant.
The Council does not have the authority to "reinstate" him as he had requested. However the Council does have the authority to waive Council rule #34 requiring a vacant position to be advertised before the Council appoints someone to the vacant position. So by waiving Council Rule #34 the majority of the Council can appoint whomever they want..
Some may not like it but Mr. Poshepny was elected by a majority of the voters in the 5th District as their alderman. He has indicated that he is now physically able to continue the position he previously vacated due to health reasons. Seeing as it was never the intension of the Council to remove him from office (remember he resigned)!
It would seem to me appropriate for the Council to consider appointing the person that was duly elected to that office. If the majority of voters in the 5th District think that Mr. Poshepny should be removed from office they can vote him out of office in the upcoming spring election.
This is not about the Council changing direction under the threat of a lawsuit. It's about doing the right thing by filliing the vacancy with the person that was elected in the 5th District.
Alderman Dave Ament 7th District

There seems to be plenty of strong statements made about the current administration, past elected officials, and other community groups by several concern citizens. Since I am new to the area, how did I know what is being written about these people (groups) are true and factual and not personal beliefs? As we all know, anyone can say anything they wish with out any facts to back them up, all you have to do is go to any on line dating service.

Ralph: "Since the 3 people running for alderman in district 5 seem to be cut from the same cloth, how about a conservative candidate coming forth and volunteering to be a write in candidate?"

One last thing- Lets not forget Jeske is a former staffer and Krueger was or is an intern at City Hall. I am not trying to discredit them, just pointing out that who is more likely to be a shill for the Mayor. The Mayor has stated he does not want the Council to take away his "power". What is the best way to do that- Take away Council members whom he disagrees with therefore giving him and his "group" their power.

So the "We Care" gang is behind Jeske and Zokan? How can they back all of the candidates in the 5th? Just to secure that seat? If these rumors are true it will just be another mark against this group of Has Beens and Never Was group that preach like conservatives and then vote like Liberals, with the exception of Hug a Tree Moore in the 6th. These races could get nasty, I would suggest people listen to the candidates carefully and make their decisions based on what their beliefs are and not what these candidates are trying to sell them!

Ralph: While Voice does not necessarily think New Berlin needs a PAC (let alone two PAC's), I would like to take this time to compliment you on how your PAC EQUALLY INTERVIEWS ALL candidates for office, unlike 'the-other-pac'.
Only by interviewing ALL candidates can a recommendation be made.

I also did not have to punch a clock, so to speak.

It might be prudent to not jump to conclusions on who is being foisted by We Care. Their typical ploy is to run two candidates, not three.
