Observations

Ray McInerny, Sr., and his wife Jean, have lived in New Berlin for 32 years.  A retired graphic artist, he now paints for his own enjoyment. This blog will attempt to present items of general interest to his New Berlin neighbors.

Can you tell us,Tiger?

When the image of an admired person is tarnished it can leave many of us devastated. In the case of Tiger Woods it's almost unthinkable. Here's a young man who's captured the imagination and admiration of millions of Americans. And not all of the admiration is from sports fans. The complete spectrum of American life is embodied in this display of awe. The entire nation has followed his exploits on golf courses worldwide. Whenever he's in a tournament the viewing escalates to new heights.

And now we're faced with an auto accident on/near his property in the early morning hours of Friday, November 27th. Reports from the scene seem scant. We're told his wife had to break out a window of the SUV to get him out. The airbag didn't open so it's considered that the car wasn't going over thirty or so miles per hour. The car broke a fire hydrant and rammed a neighbor's tree. Reports indicated that he was treated at a hospital and sent home with minor injuries.

Many questions are still left from this episode. Only one person can clear this up. Will it be easy? I don't think so, but it must be done. There is so much more at stake other than a bruised ego at this moment in time. The longer Tiger Woods waits to respond to this incident the worse it will become as it will fuel speculation and rumors. It's my opinion that he's already waited too long. And now as time drags by the situation can become intolerable for him and his family.

To recapture the aura that once surrounded him he has to step forward and expalin this mess. Not to respond would be tragic. He would risk the love of his family; admiration of fellow golf pros; alienate the fans that mean so much to athletes; place at severe risk the endorsements and advertising revenue he's enjoyed. For him and his family to reach accord and find Thanksgiving 2010 a day of thanks and praise he has to be heard. It's your call, Tiger!
