Under Scott Walker, Our State Led the Nation in Job Loss
On April 21, I posted a blog titled Wisconsin Only State in Nation With a Statistically Significant Decrease in Number of Jobs Over Last 12 Months. This is a follow-up.
The Journal Sentinel newspaper ‘s April 25 edition tackled the job loss issue in its front page article headlined State job losses worst in U.S. The first paragraph states, “Wisconsin is the only state in the nation that had ‘statistically significant’ job losses over the past 12 months, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. “ It noted: “The 23,000 jobs lost in Wisconsin was tops among the 50 states; no other state lost more than 3,500.” ( Click here to view the JS online version posted under "Business")
Dispatch Services Meeting Reminder
The dispatch informational services session will be held on Thursday, May 3 from 6:00-8:00 P.M. The meeting has been moved from the Public Safety Building to New Berlin City Hall in Council Chambers.

In the recent filing period, Gov. Scott Walker reportedly raised a staggering $13 million for the recall fight, bringing his fundraising total up to $25 million since January 2011. Walker's record-breaking $13 million haul for the last three months does not include money being spent by rightwing super PACs to support him and bash his opponents.
GOP Bloopers
On Tuesday night (5-8-12), the Republican Party of Wisconsin emailed a statement saying Democrats were still divided after the primary by choosing Tom Barrett.
But as the Associated Press points out, that message was emailed 30 minutes before the polls closed—and no election results are known until at least 8 p.m.—yet the release came at 7:30 p.m. !!!!

In her recent editorial Walker's DNR ignores what's best for the state (May 12 Journal Sentinel) Shahla M. Werner, PhD, a director of the statewide Sierra Club- John Muir Chapter wrote:

Lousy Job Numbers and Walker's Manipulations
Wisconsin lost an estimated 6,200 private-sector jobs in April, according to the report released Thursday by the state Department of Workforce Development.
Gov. Walker not only is trying to downplay the monthly estimates put out through his own administration now, he’s referred to the monthly estimate put out by the state as numbers his “opponents” were using to criticize him. (See Wisconsin State Journal report)
Barrett attacks but offers no new ideas
Tom Barrett has given up on being an honest politician. His most recent outburst of half-facts, innuendo and attacks on Governor Walker provide hard evidence his attempt to cash in on the recall is faltering.
As we've stated before, he acts like Little Lord Fauntleroy in assuming that being at the head of the table in Madison is his due. Sorry Tom, but your actions disavow any right to govern this state.

Tom Barrett keeps harping on Governor Walker to supply us with emails and
information concerning the John Doe Investigation. He knows he won't get
an answer but continues the harrange because he knows a lie repeated many

administration. The (John Doe) must be kept secret until it is completed.
Tom Barrett knows this. He's reported to be a lawyer. If he is this makes the
charges he leveling even more loathsome.

If the Budget is Really Balanced, Why is State Not Paying Bills Coming Due?
The state budget, under the Wisconsin constitution, must be balanced.
In 2010, Scott Walker made an explicit promise on his campaign website to require the use of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) to balance every state budget . Last year, PolitiFact Wisconsin announced that Walker broke that promise: “There's a chart every two years in the state budget demonstrating the bottom line under GAAP. The chart in the Walker administration's Budget in Brief shows that the 2011-13 budget was not close to balanced by that standard. In fact, the document shows that based on GAAP accounting, the state would have been left with a deficit of $3 billion by 2012-13 under Walker's budget. That compares to the $2.9 billion GAAP deficit he inherited at the end of Doyle's term, the state's financial statements show.”
2012 Ride For The National Veterans Wheelchair Games----Saturday, June 2
The National Veterans Wheelchair Games is the largest annual wheelchair sports competition in the world. Milwaukee hosted it in 2007.
The event offers 17 different sports to Veterans who use wheelchairs due to spinal cord injuries, amputations, and neurological diseases. The Games promote rehabilitation through rigorous competition in sports, such as basketball, rugby, softball, handcycling and others. The Games also provide opportunities for newly disabled veterans to gain sports skills and be exposed to other wheelchair athletes. We're Further Ahead With One Walker Instead of Fourteen (Fifteen) Runners
This recall is not just about Wisconsin but the whole country. When the eastern unions and
their thugs invaded Madison and ruined the place that was the opening salvo from a bunch
of sore-losers, socialists who lie, cheat and upset the economy and stablitiy of a state - just to
get their own way.
When Governor Walker won the race for governor by 52-46 margin enemies were born and
the rampage began. People with signs indicating he was Hitler or Hosni Murbarack, and still
others issued threats of physical violence to Walker and Legislators to intimidate them from
doing their duty as public servants.
Barrett or Walker? Character Does Matter
“The question of character has become a central issue in the Walker recall election on June 5,” asserts Barbara Miner in her May 27 Journal Sentinel blog post.
Well, we know that Tom Barrett is a caring man, a genuine hero. Barrett, who came to the aid of strangers, was attacked with a metal pipe and sustained serious injuries. A 2009 Journal Sentinel Editorial states: “Good citizens get involved and don’t look the other way when someone is in need of help”. “Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett intervened in a dispute at much risk to himself and helped make the community stronger …. Simply, in protecting a woman and child from harm, the mayor acted heroically.”
