Earth Day

Today marks the 40th Anniversary of Earth Day.

The late Sen. Gaylord Nelson was the founder of Earth Day.  A dedicated public servant, Nelson served 10 years in the Wisconsin Senate, was the 35th governor of Wisconsin, and served 18 years in the U.S. Senate.

Reflecting on the Election

The  2010 New Berlin School Board election was an uncontested race because there were three open seats and three candidates—Keith Hastings, Tom David, and incumbent John Kegel.   

However, 77 write-in votes were cast (as reported on the City of New Berlin’s Web site).

Re: Mandating Extra-Curricular Activities

New Berlin Schools

Doesn’t the School District of New Berlin realize there is a big difference between encouraging activity and mandating it?   

Its proposal to require student participation in an extra-curricular activity to graduate has raised numerous concerns and not suprisingly, gotten little if any public support.
