Administrative Team Report:

Title I Poverty Data: Superintendent Joe Garza shared that economic factors have contributed an increased poverty level in the district. Despite this, the district is closing gaps between economically disadvantaged students and achievement levels district-wide are rising.

Student Family Assistance Program (SFAP) 2014-15:

Superintendent Garza explained that to utilize in-district resources, Middle/High School Counselor Mary Jane Whitty will offer services to families that were formerly offered by Aurora Healthcare’s Student Family Assistance Program. Whitty has local, regional and state resources that she can refer families to based on their needs. Confidentiality will be kept in all cases. Whitty will also be responsible for forming an alliance with other school districts to provide services to students and families during crisis situations.

Proposed Preliminary 2014-15 Budget: Superintendent Garza shared the preliminary budget with the Board. View presentation here. The budget supports the District’s four strategic goals in the areas of college & career readiness for students; recruitment/retention of high-quality staff; fiscal responsibility; and community partnerships. The Board accepted the preliminary budget. The electorate will approve a tax levy amount to support the budget at the District’s Annual Meeting. The final budget will be adopted in October.

Long-Range Facilities Maintenance Plan (2014-15 – 2018-19): The Board approved the Long-Range Facilities Plan which lists projects planned for the next five years.
