Recognition of Outgoing Member
The Board recognized Art Marquardt for his many years of service on the school board.

Organization of the Board
The Board held officer elections. Dave Maxey was selected as President; Tom David as Vice President; Susan Manley as Clerk; Jody Kugler as Treasurer; Nate Nickerson as CESA 1 and WASB representative; Tom David and Jeff Kurth as Liaisons to the City of New Berlin.

Recognitions
Burhan Alwassi of New Berlin West was recognized for designing the Discover New Berlin Business & Community Expo logo.  

Strategic Goals Update
Superintendent Joe Garza shared information about the district’s high WKCE scores and recent accolade from Washington Post on its America’s Most Challenging High Schools list. President David Maxey thanked the entire staff for working to achieve these outstanding results.

Student Representative Update
Dominik Ropella of New Berlin West shared that West & Ike have finished indoor track season and are starting the outdoor season. TAPs performed Alice in Wonderland recently. The forensics team took 5th at State, and the NB Blitz Robotics team took 45th out of 100 teams at the World Championships in St. Louis.

Donations Report
Vice President Tom David thanked the following organizations for their donations to the District. He especially recognized the Elmwood Elementary Home & School Organization for donating $36,000 to replace playground equipment.  

REGULAR AGENDA

Renewal of Insurance & CESA 1 Contracts
The Board renewed the District’s casualty insurance program through R&R Insurance and the Local Government Property Insurance Fund; as well as a contract with CESA 1 for 2014-15.

Revision to Policy 1120 – Board of Education Meetings: The Board is removing that the District has an official newspaper to allow for flexibility when publishing notices. The District plans to use Waukesha Freeman to publish notices as it is printed each day of the week.

Special Meeting of the Electorate to Authorize the Sale of Glen Park Elementary School, followed by a regular Board meeting
Monday, May 12 – 6 p.m., New Berlin West Idea Center
