School District of New Berlin Participates in State’s New Course Options Program
New Berlin, Wis. –The School District of New Berlin (SDNB) is pleased to participate in Wisconsin’s new Course Options Program, which allows students to attend school districts other than that in which they reside for up to two credit-bearing courses at a time during the academic year and/or summer.
This summer (2014) SDNB will offer blended online and in-person courses in math, phy ed and health for students who reside in and outside of the district. There is no cost for these classes, however parents/students must provide their own transportation. View the Course Options Guide for full course descriptions and more information. The application deadline is May 9.
Math Course Options - Monday & Wednesday, June 16 - August 13
Students who wish to accelerate in math are encouraged to take advantage of SDNB’s personalized summer math courses. A student's pre-assessment will inform instruction based upon his/her current level of knowledge and skills. Because these courses are blended (online and face-to-face), they allow students to learn both independently and as part of a team. Courses offered include:
- Math 8
- Algebra I
- Algebra 2
Health & Phy Ed Course Options- June 23 - July 22, Days Vary, No Class July 3
These courses allow students to earn health and physical education credit during the summer, therefore freeing up space in their schedule for additional courses during the school year. Unique, engaging classes are blended online and in-person and teach students how to create their own health and fitness plans. “Better, Faster, Stronger” offers an opportunity for student athletes reach their fullest athletic potential. Courses include:
- Health - Online/Blended Format
- Personal & Lifetime Fitness - Online/Blended Format
- BFS: Better, Faster, Stronger (BFS)
- Advanced BFS
School Year 2014-15 Course Options
In addition to the Summer 2014 courses, SDNB will also accept students from outside the district through Course Options into Geography and Project Lead the Way classes next fall. The deadline for applications for the fall semester 2014 is July 21, 2014.

The application deadline for summer Course Options classes is May 9. Non-resident students must complete the Course Options application at http://courseoptions.dpi.wi.gov/ and register for courses online at http://www.nbexcellence.org/district/7-12-summer-learning-registration.cfm.
