Special Electorate Meeting May 12 to Authorize Sale of Glen Park Elementary

District Accepts Offers for Glen Park, Little Grove Elementary Properties

Sale of Glen Park subject to electorate approval on May 12

New Berlin, Wis. – At a special meeting April 15 the School District of New Berlin Board of Education accepted a purchase offer for Glen Park Elementary subject to approval by the electorate on May 12. The Board also accepted an offer for the Little Grove Elementary property.

Glen Park Elementary – 3500 S. Glen Park Rd., New Berlin
Heritage Christian Schools offered the District $1,750,000 for the Glen Park property. The Board accepted the offer subject to approval by the electorate. A special meeting of the electorate is scheduled for Monday, May 12 at 6:00 p.m. in the New Berlin West Idea Center. At this meeting the electorate will consider a resolution to approve the sale of Glen Park under terms and conditions satisfactory to the Board. Glen Park closed at the end of the 2011-12 school year due to excess elementary school capacity and for budget savings.

“The Board has listened to the concerns of the Glen Park neighborhood,” said Board President Dave Maxey. “We are pleased at the opportunity to preserve this property as a school and are hopeful that community members will support the sale.”

Little Grove Elementary – 3800 S. Racine Ave., New Berlin
The Board accepted an offer of $195,000 from Krish Narayanan for the Little Grove property. The sale of Little Grove was previously approved by the electorate.

Funds gained from surplus property sales will be used to complete projects identified in the District’s Long-Range Facilities Plan.

Chief Finance & Operations Officer Roger Dickson said the sale of these properties will enable the District to improve learning environments for students. “This revenue will allow us to address facility needs in our active buildings.”

The following District-owned surplus properties are still on the market (click on the links for sell sheets):

·         10 +/- acres - Small & Calhoun Roads

·         20 +/- acres - Beres & Martin Roads

·         50 +/- acres - Beloit & Calhoun Roads
