Scott Walker Scandals

political campaign scandal, State

"Governors should be defined not just by what they do and say but who they surround themselves with, making sure to have the smartest person for a particular task or to head a specific agency. They should be judged on that basis and who they take advice from."----Scott Walker    (American Thinker interview)

And who has Scott Walker surrounded himself with?

At his televised  2014 State of the State event, Walker shared the stage with Christopher Barber, whom he touted as one of the "faces of an improving economy".  Several newspapers ran a photo of Barber waving to the audience.  Turns out Barber has quite a rap sheet.  The Journal Sentinel reports: "Records show that he is a registered sex offender with two felonies and three drunken-driving offenses. Because of his checkered past,  Barber has been in and out of jail and prison for much of the past decade, with his probation having been revoked at least twice."

At  Walker's March 2011 press conference in Madison to discuss his budget repair bill's impact on Wisconsin schools/collective bargaining,  Dr. Paul Kreutzer (New Berlin School District) was the only superintendent  standing with him. What a sham.  Kreutzer wasn't even sticking  around here.  He'd  been seeking employment outside the state!  A few months after the press conference,  Kreutzer, his teacher-wife, and their school-age daughter moved to New York.  He was superintendent of New York's Katonah-Lewisboro district  from July 2011 until a few weeks ago when the school board took action to end their  working relationship.

Court records indicate Kreutzer had an extramarital affair in a distant state (not New York), which resulted in a child, who was born in early May 2008.  The boy's mother filed a lawsuit against Kreutzer in June 2008 for paternity, child support, etc.   She used to live in Wisconsin. In fact, she'd been a student teacher at the one-school  North Lake School  District  when Kreutzer was the superintendent of that small Wisconsin district.

To Walker, a college drop-out, Dr. Kreutzer may seem  a "smart" person. But Kreutzer happens to be a  married man who not only cheated on his wife, his infidelity produced a love-child.  That certainly was not "smart".  Unethical, untrustworthy, and reprehensible more aptly describes such behavior.

According to press reports,  investigations found evidence of wrongdoing, which resulted in felony and misdemeanor convictions of people Walker apppointed to public jobs, and others connected to the governor.

Yup. Scott Walker ( Eagle Scout, son of a preacher --and family values Republican?)  sure knows how to pick 'em.

Kelly Rindfleisch was deputy chief of staff for Walker when he was county executive in Milwaukee. She was convicted of misconduct in office for campaigning on county time---doing campaign work on behalf of Brett Davis (a  Republican candidate who was running for lieutenant governor),  while she was on  the clock in Walker's office.

Per The Fiscal Times"Kevin Kavanaugh,  whom Walker had appointed  to  the Milwaukee County Veterans Service Commission, was convicted in 2012 of stealing $5l,000 in donations earmarked for veterans and their families."

"Timothy Russell, a former deputy chief of staff to Walker, was sentenced to two years in prison last year after he was found guilty of stealing $21,000 from a charity intended to benefit wounded veterans and the families of military personnel killed in Iraq and Afghanistan.  Walker had placed Russell in charge of the organization."

"In a case similar to Rindfleisch's, Darlene Wink, who was Walker's director of constituent services, was convicted of a pair of misdemeanors after prosecutors charged her with organizing political fundraisers while on the clock as a county employee."

"William Gardner, a personal friend of Walker's was convicted of violating state campaign finance laws for laundering campaign contributions he made to Walker's gubernatorial election committee."

The Journal Sentinel reports that records released Wednesday reveal Brian Pierick ( the domestic partner of Walker staffer Timothy Russell) was behind ScottForGov, a website that posted anonymous items supporting Scott Walker's gubernatorial bid in 2010.  "More important, Walker signed off on the name for the anonymous site."    "Pierick was sentenced in March 2013 to 50 hours of community service and ordered to pay a $2,148 fine for contributing to the delinquency of a child. He had originally been charged with felony child enticement."

Emails released on Wednesday also disclosed racist jokes exchanged or forwarded by Walker staff members who served as Walker's #1 and #2 aides (chief of staff  Thomas Nardelli and deputy chief of staff Kelly Rindfleisch)  while he served as Milwaukee County executive.

And by the way,  records show Walker chief of staff Thomas Nardelli emailed Walker in 2010 (when he was Milwaukee County executive) about a newly hired doctor in the Milwaukee County Behaviorial Health Division  after they found out about her "checkered" past as a thong model.   "Apparently, she's competent,.." wrote Nardelli.  In response, Walker replied,  "Get rid of the MD asap."    Wow.   For details, go to Huffington Post.   In 2012 Walker hired Ciara Matthews, a former Hooters girl,  to be his campaign spokeswoman.    Don't Hooters waitresses wear scanty, provocative uniforms?

So there you have it.  Criminals, felons, sex offenders, thieves,  racists,  a pervert, an adulterer......
