State Senator Mary Lazich (R-New Berlin) represents parts of four counties: Milwaukee, Waukesha, Racine, and Walworth. Her Senate District 28 includes New Berlin, Franklin, Greendale, Hales Corners, Muskego, Waterford, Big Bend, the town of Vernon and parts of Greenfield, East Troy, and Mukwonago. Senator Lazich has been in the Legislature for more than a decade. She considers herself a tireless crusader for lower taxes, reduced spending and smaller government.

Governor's Weekly Radio Address: Moving Wisconsin Forward

We just learned that the national unemployment rate last month dropped to the lowest level in five years. That's good news.  

Here in Wisconsin, we hit that five year low for unemployment a month earlier as the state rate dropped to 6.5 percent.  In fact, we've improved quite a bit from the high of 9.2 percent unemployment in 2009.  

Last month saw Wisconsin grow manufacturing jobs faster than just about any other state in the country.  We want to continue that success.  

That's why I asked the state legislature to pass our worker training plan so we can show employers that we have people ready to fill the jobs that are open.  

This week, I signed several more bills into law that are part of our worker training plan.  I want to thank all the lawmakers from both parties who voted for these measures.  Together, we're moving Wisconsin forward.
