Unemployment Insurance Computer System Offline Later This Week
The Department of Workforce Development is upgrading its Unemployment Insurance computer system this weekend. The system will be offline Thursday, October 6, 2011 through Saturday, October 8, 2011.
The upgrade is scheduled to avoid an outage Sunday, typically the busiest day for filing unemployment insurance claims.

Governor Scott Walker announced today the creation of the Office of the Inspector General (OIG) in the Department of Health Services. Transportation and Elections Committee Hearing Thursday
The Senate Committee on Transportation and Elections will hold a public hearing Thursday to hear testimony on four bills, including three bipartisan proposals.

Here is the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel article about yesterday’s Transportation and Elections Committee informational hearing.
As explained in the article, Senators and Representatives currently represent new districts within boundaries established by Act 43, redistricting legislation approved earlier this year. However, recall petitions and recall elections would be conducted using old, unconstitutional maps from the 2000 census. This results in voters from old unconstitutional districts choosing State Senators for citizens in the new district resulting from the 2010 census. In addition, some people in the new district are denied voting for the State Senator that represents them. That strikes me as completely unfair.
