Those Heartless Hypocrites

“When the Senate passed the long-delayed $50.5 billion Hurricane Sandy relief package Monday, 36 Republicans voted against the bill. But of the 32 no-votes from Senators who are not brand-new members, at least 31 came from Republicans who had previously supported emergency aid efforts following disasters in their own states.”      (source-  Thinkprogress )

Wisconsin's Ron Johnson was one of those 31.

Click on this link to the Thinkprogress'  article, which features a  "hypocritical" Senators list.

Additionally, Thinkprogress reminds us that on January 4th, “ the  House  overwhelmingly approved $9 billion in funds –compared to the $60 billion total requested---but 67 Republicans still voted against even that bare-bones package.  The majority of those Representatives had, however, supported emergency aid efforts following disasters in their own states.”

“Eighteen of the 67 dissenters are first-term members, sworn in just a day earlier. But of the 49 Representatives with a prior House record who opposed Sandy aid, at least 37 had previously advocated for or touted emergency aid services following other disasters that affected their own constituents.”

The 37 "hypocritical" Representatives named by Thinkprogress include several from Wisconsin:

·         Rep. Sean Duffy

·         Rep. Tom Petri

·         Rep. Paul Ryan

·         Rep. Jim Sensenbrenner
