Candidate Forum --
First of all, residents are urged to attend the annual candidate forum Saturday, Feb. 2, from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the New Berlin High School library. The event, sponsored by the Rotary Club of New Berlin, will feature all five candidates running for mayor in the upcoming primary election.
The school, located at 18695 W. Cleveland Ave., provides easy access to the library by parking on the west side of the building and entering the door about midway back.
Challenging Mayor Jack Chiovatero are a former mayor, Mary Claire Lanser (1993-1997), Alderman David Ament (who also is running unopposed for re-election as alderman), Janet Schulz and Joseph Wieneke. The program is being taped and will be available at the New Berlin Library.
Cruising for Murder --
Then, the following Saturday, Feb. 9, the Rotarians are offering their annual murder mystery fundraiser, "Cruising for Murder." The event will begin at 5 p.m. at the New Berlin Banquet Center, 16000 W. Cleveland Ave., with a buffet dinner at 6:15 pm., followed by the murder at 7 p.m.
"Adrift on the ocean, there is no better place to escape your troubles. or for a murderer to strike." So now it is your job to uncover the killer! Tickets cost $40 per person and are available through Dianne Moore, 262-391-6250. Sales close Feb. 1. No tickets are available at the door.
