State Senator Mary Lazich (R-New Berlin) represents parts of four counties: Milwaukee, Waukesha, Racine, and Walworth. Her Senate District 28 includes New Berlin, Franklin, Greendale, Hales Corners, Muskego, Waterford, Big Bend, the town of Vernon and parts of Greenfield, East Troy, and Mukwonago. Senator Lazich has been in the Legislature for more than a decade. She considers herself a tireless crusader for lower taxes, reduced spending and smaller government.
Today Representative Kathy Bernier joined me in requesting an audit of the Government Accountability Board (GAB). While I serve as the Chair of the Senate Committee on
Elections and Urban Affairs, Representative Bernier is Chairman of the Assembly Committee on Campaigns and Elections.
We joined together requesting the GAB audit with the objective to ensure the GAB’s practices and procedures are in accordance with election law and administrative rules. Every voter deserves to know there is integrity and fairness in Wisconsin’s electoral process. Any discrepancies in this process chips away at the health of our democracy.
This audit request includes an evaluation of Election Day processes and practices, a review of the complaints the GAB receives about voting irregularities, an assessment of the GAB’s procedures for investigating and resolving concerns, as well as a comprehensive overview of the GAB.
