State Senator Mary Lazich (R-New Berlin) represents parts of four counties: Milwaukee, Waukesha, Racine, and Walworth. Her Senate District 28 includes New Berlin, Franklin, Greendale, Hales Corners, Muskego, Waterford, Big Bend, the town of Vernon and parts of Greenfield, East Troy, and Mukwonago. Senator Lazich has been in the Legislature for more than a decade. She considers herself a tireless crusader for lower taxes, reduced spending and smaller government.

The Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC) announced Wisconsin through the first three quarters of 2012 exported $17.4 billion worth of products, a path to the largest Wisconsin product exports. Morningstar, an investment research firm, reports the Wisconsin Retirement System has a 99.8% funded ratio with a liability of $23 per resident, while Illinois has the worst of all 50 states with a 43.4% funded ratio and a liability of $6,503 per resident. For the second straight season, the Wisconsin Badgers are playing for the granddaddy of all college bowl games. The Rose Bowl kicks off at 3:30 PM today, with the No. 9 Badgers playing the No. 6 Oregon Ducks. The game will be televised on ESPN. The radio broadcast can be found locally on 620 WTMJ AM.

The 2013-2014 Legislative Session Senate Republican committee chairs and committee memberships are determined. I am appointed chair of the Senate Committee on Elections and Urban Affairs, and member of the Joint Committee on Finance (JFC) and member of the Senate Committee on Health and Human Services. The Senate Democrats will announce their appointments to committees in the future. The legislative session begins with inauguration cermonies January 7, 2013.
The battle over the fiscal cliff is looming, and President Obama and Democrats are set on trying to solve our nation’s deficit problem by taxing the rich more and more.

Today is moving day for the Capitol office. The office is moving from five South back to eight South. You may recall that a few months ago the office moved.
You cannot watch TV or read a newspaper without hearing about the impending fiscal cliff. The federal Budget Control Act (BCA) is scheduled to trigger massive spending cuts that coincide with tax increases, affecting nearly every American.
Today, Governor Walker issued an Executive Order declaring a State of Emergency in response to the upcoming winter storm. Heavy snowfall and strong winds are expected to be moving across the state beginning December 19, 2012. The Executive Order will ready the Wisconsin Emergency Management, the Wisconsin National Guard, the State Patrol, and other Wisconsin state agencies.
