Observations

Ray McInerny, Sr., and his wife Jean, have lived in New Berlin for 32 years.  A retired graphic artist, he now paints for his own enjoyment. This blog will attempt to present items of general interest to his New Berlin neighbors.

You're Only As Good As Your Word

David Ricken, Bishop of Green Bay, Wisconsin's diocese wrote a letter to his parishioners. The letter dated, October 4, 2012, urges his parishioners to vote for candidates who are pro-life and anti Gay Marriage without specifying whom to caste a vote for. Noting his responsibility to "speak out regarding moral issues," he notes to keep in mind on November 6th that voting for candidates who are Pro-Abortion and Pro-Gay Marriage could "put your own soul in jeopardy."

The Bishop's letter and remarks are receiving national attention on the social media and internet news networks, but far less on the other media, and are welcomed by those of us who feel the same. There has been a distinct absence of comment from our local religious leaders. Thank you Bishop Ricken, your letter is needed and timely.

Other christian bloggers would rather demean and damage the character of Mr. Romney by telling you what a less than heroic man he is. Because he followed his beliefs in his religion and did what was asked he's maligned. We're fed quotes by such laudable sources of information as Whoopie Goldberg, Rachel Maddow and other socialist anti-religionists to insure that we get the full scoop, as it were. Ah yes, the waning media on the east coast is such a dominant source of education for those who only follow it without thoughts of their own.

One local blogger is all upset about Romney yet we hear nothing concerning Obama and what "he knew," "what he did," and when he did it" during the Benghazi affair. Four Americans were left dead. Unprotected by our armed forces. What do we get? The CIA didn't do it. The State Department didn't do it. The Army High Command didn't do it. The Administration didn't do it. Still we had troops and other means at our disposal ready to go and no command to defend the consulate was given. And we want to spend our time on Romney's lack of military service. This is direlection of duty on the highest level in this administration and we worry about the past. The Obama campaign and it's followers are mired in the past. Their path to Forward is to look back and not see what's happening today. And, as Obama and Hillary did soon after Benghhazi  happened they both apologized for Ameica's behavior on Lybian T.V.

I came from a family of seven brothers. Three of us were in the Marines. Three of us were in the Navy. One of us in the Air Corps. I have a son who was a Lt. in the Army, another whose number wasn't called during the confilct. Do I have to choose between them? Is one more patriotic than the other? They're both great men and good family men. That's all that's necessary. Obama never served anything but himself either, if you want to be picky. His whole life apparently has been spent trying to find ways to tear down a country he despises - and he has lots of followers unfortunately. This is the Champion of Partial Birth Abortion a far more hideous position to cling to than a religion some don't like. He' kill a partially born human being because it's convenient. And, this is your choice?

I'll take the word of Bishop Ricken. If we really love life we'll vote against abortion. If we really love marriage we'll vote against same-sex marriage. Thank you Bishop Ricken for being a man of your word and following The Word. We appreciate it. It has taken a long time to hear this from the pulpit.
