State Senator Mary Lazich (R-New Berlin) represents parts of four counties: Milwaukee, Waukesha, Racine, and Walworth. Her Senate District 28 includes New Berlin, Franklin, Greendale, Hales Corners, Muskego, Waterford, Big Bend, the town of Vernon and parts of Greenfield, East Troy, and Mukwonago. Senator Lazich has been in the Legislature for more than a decade. She considers herself a tireless crusader for lower taxes, reduced spending and smaller government.
Today is moving day. My capitol office is relocated from eight south to five south. Office moves take place after the November elections. However, with Democrats gaining the majority, a few of them are insisting on moving their office. Senator Chris Larson is taking my office.
Not all Democrat senators are relocating their offices. Members of the Senate Democrat Caucus not moving, include Senators Carpenter, Coggs, Erpenbach, Holperin, King, Shilling, Wirch, and Independent Senator Cullen. Senator Coggs was elected City of Milwaukee Treasurer April 3, 2012. Senator Coggs did not resign from his senate seat upon election to the Milwaukee Treasurer position.
You may question that since one Democrat left the Senate Democrats and is Independent, Republicans are still in power and should stay put. The vote by the Senate Organization Committee to approve the office moves was prior to Senator Cullen changing party affiliation. If there were a Senate Organization Committee vote to move offices today, the vote would be a two-two vote and the motion would fail.
If you visit my office during the next three months you may find a box or two. The move is for three months and many items will stay in boxes until the routine November moves.
