Oh Deer
Last week, Gov. Walker issued an executive order to create a white-tailed deer trustee.
Yup. A "deer trustee".
Governor's Top Aide Resigns
“ Keith Gilkes, the third top Walker aide to announce their resignations in recent months, said he’ll leave his $112,000 per year chief of staff job October 8”, reports the Associated Press/Madison.com.
Gilkes, who led Walker’s 2010 campaign, plans to return to his one-man political consulting business.
Despite Gov. Walker's Claims that the State is Broke.......
Saturday's Journal Sentinel editorial ponders:
"Sometimes, you have to wonder about Gov. Scott Walker's view on frugality. "Wisconsin is broke," he has said repeatedly. Yet when Cindy Archer, who worked for him at Milwaukee County before joining his administration in Madison, was moved from one department to another, her new position was suddenly paid a lot more than the previous holder of that position had been paid. There have been other political appointments that have raised eyebrows, and there's the fact that he has moved positions from the civil service umbrella to the political appointment.
Say Cheese

Getting Access to Public Records and the Non-Responsive School District
Government officials, employees, members of the media and the public were welcome to attend the Wisconsin Department of Justice’s free, live seminars on public records and meeting laws that were held earlier this month.
Additionally, the state DOJ is offering a webinar on October 20 9 am to 12 pm. A webinar is an interactive audio-visual presentation viewed live over the internet from the participants own computer. It is free, but registration is required. Hopefully, the District of New Berlin Superintendent and board members will make use of this opportunity if they did not attend any of the live seminars.

A family-oriented Halloween Party sponsored by the New Berlin Park and Recreation Department will be held this Sunday, Oct. 23rd, 10 am to 1 pm at Hickory Grove Center located at 2600 S. Sunnyslope Rd.
Lazich's Lousy Leadership
The Political Environment’s recent post noted the following about Sen. Mary Lazich:
“This time, during the Special Session on Jobs, the ultra-rightwing legislator from New Berlin is promoting...abstinence-only public school 'sex-ed.'
Her last big PR splash: criminalizing prank calls, which earned her a shout out on The Colbert Report.
And kept a full-time staffer and blogger who called the DNR a Nazi organization.
When it comes to major issues, there she went again - - opposing the minimum wage, freaking out about Wisconsin losing "sovereignty" to a Great Lakes water agreement she seemed unaware was about to supply her hometown with its sought-after clean water supply, and claiming that Milwaukee officials who wanted to charge New Berlin a regional cooperation fee for the water were extortionists.
Then there's her objection to the minimum wage, her complaints about not getting enough stimulus funding she opposed, and other follies, here. "
Wis.Job Numbers Decline For Third Straight Month; What About Walker's Job Creation Campaign Promise?
A news report in the Oct. 21 Journal Sentinel business section informs us:
“Wisconsin shed private-sector jobs for the third consecutive month in September, while employment at government agencies and public schools registered its biggest drop in decades.”

Mary, Mary, Quite Contrary
One Wisconsin Now (blogger Scott Ross) states:
"Lazich voted for to kill notary requirement she now wants for Walker recall When it comes to sheer partisan hackery, there is no substitute for GOP Sen. Mary Lazich of New Berlin. Lazich, an author of the Jim Crow-era voter suppression ID bill, has now dumped a slew of sleazy legislations to try and save Gov. Scott Walker and the razor-thin Republican Senate majority. And now it's requiring her to vote against bill she voted for previously.
