Ray McInerny, Sr., and his wife Jean, have lived in New Berlin for 32 years. A retired graphic artist, he now paints for his own enjoyment. This blog will attempt to present items of general interest to his New Berlin neighbors.
The City of New Berlin has owned New Berlin Hills Golf Course since 1978.
The course, formed in 1905 as a private clube named Woodmont Country Club purchased 40 acres of Section 1 from Daniel Ewer in 1907, and a new nine-hole course was born. Until the depression of 1929 it did well. A mortage to expand the club called in by First Wisconsin Bank weakened the club's stability. Unable to raise the funds to continue they finally sold the course in 1943.
To all who have responded to my blogs this past half year I'd like to wish each and everyone of you a very peaceful, happy and Merry Christmas. It has been most interesting for me to follow the blogs and read the comments. Few have been harsh on the writers, many have been most thoughtful, and I suspect some with tongue in cheek.
The free exchange of ideas is vital to a healthy society. I've named my blog "Observations" because that is what I have intended. I observe what's happening here in town, around the county and the nation. My expression of that observation is how I see things. I appreciate the responses to my observations and hope that they continue.

The transparency we were promised has yet to be seen. Only a handful of people in the House and Senate kow what's in the Health Care Bill. We know there will be a penalty if we don't buy insurance under this proposed bill. We know little or nothing concerning all the Czars that have been appointed with no congressional approval. We know nothing of Obama's records - will we ever?
