In response to my inquiry at City Hall about an upcoming informational meeting, I received the following communication:

Racism in New Berlin
Racism in New Berlin was the title of a blog post I did in 2008 following a local news report:
Saluting The Stars And Stripes
Put your flag out today. It’s Flag Day.
The idea of Flag Day originated with Fredonia, Wis., public school teacher BJ Cigrand in 1885. The teacher thought it important students recognized the official birthday of the flag. June 14 was the day The Stars and Stripes was officially adopted as the flag of the United States in 1777….
A Response Letter
The following letter to the editor was published in last week’s New Berlin NOW in response to a resident’s letter (Some aldermen donated salary after furloughs) that appeared in the May 27 issue of the newspaper:
And What A Great Ride It Was!
Did you see our procession of motorcycles last Saturday morning?
I hope so, because the Fifth Annual Ride For The National Veterans Wheelchair Games was a sight to behold, with its awesome law-enforcement escort, American Legion bikers, large flags, six motorcycle sidecars carrying disabled veterans, and the bevy of other veterans and non-veterans who participated in the ride on motorcycles or in cars.
Happy Father's Day
Happy Father's Day to all fathers, grandfathers, and fathers-to-be.
Per TODAYmsnbc: Father's Day turns 100 this year, thanks to the tireless efforts of Sonora Smart Dodd. She spent 62 years drumming up support for the holiday until President Nixon finally made it an official national observance in 1972.
Stormy Weather
Mother Nature put on quite a show yesterday, the first day of summer.
According to JS Online, a tornado was reported near Hales Corners at 9:48 p.m. and an earlier twister in Eagle flattened six houses, caused other damage, and some minor injuries. Also: Due to the storm, more than 40,000 We Energies customers were without electrical power, mainly in Waukesha, Racine, Milwaukee and Jefferson counties.
