Greenfield High School will host a wiffle ball tournament to benefit the Community Services Department Saturday, March 31, 2012. The tournament begins at 9:00 AM and is scheduled to last until 9:00 PM. Children age 8-13 are invited to play. There is a $100 registration fee per team. Voter ID Website
Part of Wisconsin Act 23, legislation requiring voters to show photo identification to vote, required a public outreach effort to inform people about the new voting requirement. The Government Accountability Board created a website to aid in the outreach effort. Voters may visit www.bringit.wisconsin.gov and find answers to questions about the new voter photo ID law.
Just a reminder, the law will be in effect beginning February 21 with the primary election for 2012 nonpartisan elections.

Today, there are nearly 30,000 job openings on our website www.jobcenterofwisconsin.com. Our challenge is how to connect potential workers to those jobs.
Beer Gardens To Return To Milwaukee County Parks?
Milwaukee County Parks Director Sue Black is proposing bringing beer gardens back to Milwaukee County parks. The beer gardens would be operated by a private contractor that would make enhancements to park structures and sell food and beverages. Milwaukee County would receive a percentage of sales from the beer gardens.
College and Workforce Readiness Council Announced
Governor Scott Walker today announced the creation of the College and Workforce Readiness Council to help prepare students for life outside of the classroom. The College and Workforce Readiness Council is part of the Governor’s Wisconsin Working plan.

February 1, 2012, Deadline To Join Landscape Pesticide Advance Notice Registry
The Landscape Pesticide Advance Notice Registry provides homeowners and renters notification in advance of professional pesticide applications. Once on the registry, members receive notices from professional lawn and landscape businesses beginning March 15. Registry members must be notified at least 12 hours before a pesticide is professionally applied to lawns or landscapes at the addresses listed within the registry.
Senate Floor Action for January 17, 2012
The Wisconsin State Senate opened its 2012 calendar Tuesday, acting on nine bills and approving four resolutions.
The Senate concurred with the Assembly on Senate Bill 2, a bill that adjusts the deadline for parents wishing to open enroll their students. In addition, the Senate approved a bill from the Law Revision Committee making revisions to the Clean Water Fund Program.

Governor Walker Seeks Applicants for Non-traditional Student Representative on the University of Wisconsin System Board of Regents
The Governor announced he is seeking applications for a non-traditional student representative for the University System Board of Regents. Below is the governor's announcement:
Governor Scott Walker announced today that he is seeking applicants for a non-traditional student representative on the University of Wisconsin System Board of Regents. The applicant must be an undergraduate student, who is at least 24 years old and represent the views of non-traditional students, such as those who are employed or who are parents; this representative will serve for two years. The student representative must be enrolled at least half-time in a University of Wisconsin institution, be in good academic standing, be a Wisconsin resident, and be enrolled for their entire term. Please note that due to UW-Stout having been recently represented on the board, state statute precludes applications being accepted from this institution. In addition, applicants who attend UW-Madison or UW-Milwaukee are unable to apply for this cycle.
